Taylor 8/11 to beat Champ in league opener

The match is a repeat of last year's opening night fixture

Bookmaker Bet365 have priced Phil Taylor as the 8/11 favourite to win his Premier League opener against world champion Adrian Lewis at the Manchester Arena.

The match is a repeat of last year’s opening night fixture when the then newly crowned world champion defeated The Power 8-2: a result that left the world number one lamenting his own form.

“I was awful and I've got to work hard to put it right because I don't want to keep playing like this,” said The Power after his loss.

“I know what I've got to do and it's up to me to put it right and sort myself out.”

And put things right he did as he went on to win his remaining 13 league matches – including a 8-3 win over Jackpot – and top the group by a comfortable eight point margin. Before losing again to Lewis in the semi-finals, this time 8-3.

Lewis is available to back at odds of 2/1 for the win, with the draw priced up at 4/1.

Blue Square make another 8-2 Lewis victory a 25/1 shot and 8-3 is available to back at odds of 18/1. Taylor is 15/2 to repeat his 8-3 victory of last year.
