Players Championship Derby

Taylor, Wade, Anderson and Van Barneveld all return to action

The PDC Pro Tour continues this weekend as the players return to the UK for a pair of Players Championship events at the Moorways Centre in Derby.

Phil Taylor, James Wade, Gary Anderson and Raymond van Barneveld all return to action having sat out last weekend’s events in Canada. They join London Ontario Players Championship winner John Part, Canadian Masters champion Ronnie Baxter and over 100 other players in the battle for over £70,000 in prize money.

This weekend’s play is also the penultimate weekend of action before the cut-off for World Grand Prix of Darts qualification. Following next weekend’s Nuland Pro Tour events the top 16 in the PDC Order of Merit will join the top 14 (who are not already in the top 16 of the PDC OoM) ranked players in the Players Championship Order of Merit and the top two in the Irish Order of Merit. So there is everything to play for in Derby.

John Part and Jamie Caven won the Players Championship events held in Derby earlier this year, while the equivalent events towards the end of last season saw Mark Walsh and Phil Taylor triumph.
