Home victory for Part

Part was priced at 16/1 in the pre-tournament betting

John Part won the first of the weekend’s PDC Pro Tour events as he took the London Ontario Players Championship title to claim his third title of the season.

Part defeated Gil Nash, Shawn Brenneman and Mareno Michels in the early rounds before going on to beat Kevin Painter 6-2 in the last 16, Peter Wright 6-4 in the quarterfinals, defending champion Jamie Caven 6-4 in the semis and the in-form Wes Newton, again 6-4, in the final.

The win reiterated Part’s eye-catching return to form this season and was the Canadian’s third Pro Tour title of the season following victories in Austria and Derby earlier in the season.

Part was priced at 16/1 in the pre-tournament betting while runner-up Wes Newton was the 13/2 second-favourite. Peter Wright beat darts betting favourite Simon Whitlock at the last-16 stage.

Sunday’s Canadian Masters Players Championship sees very little alteration in the betting with Part still priced between 16/1 and 33/1 with various bookmakers. Newton can be backed at odds of between 13/2 and 8/1 while Whitlock remains the 5/1 favourite.
