Championship League: Whitlock wanders on

he will play his fiftieth game at this year's event

Another day, another Championship League group for Simon Whitlock. The Australian made the final four for the fifth consecutive time yesterday before losing in the final. After which he crawled back into his bed that the PDC have kindly allowed him to set up on the Crondon Park oche.

Whitlock will now return for his sixth day of Championship League action, during which he will play his fiftieth game at this year’s event. If nothing else he’s racking up a good bit of prize money from the £50 per leg he has won so far.

Andy Smith, Kevin Painter, Vincent van der Voort and Colin Osborne will join him in Group Six from yesterday. While Denis Ovens, Alan Tabern and Steve Beaton enter the competition for the first time this season.

Yesterday we put our faith in Andy Smith but having comfortably qualified for the semis he couldn’t get past Whitlock to make it to the final. He did, however, still look in good form and so we’ll keep faith with him once more at betting odds of 6/1 to win Championship League Darts Group Six.

At the other end of proceedings – although it pains me to say – I think we could be seeing the last of Van der Voort. His form was patchy yesterday and there were signs that his recent back injury was starting to trouble him again. At odds of 11/4 to be eliminated he looks a sensible bet.

Recommended Bets:

Back Andy Smith to win @ 6/1 each-way

Back Van der Voort to be eliminated @ 11/4
