Simon Whitlock is made the 5/1 favourite

Following a four-week hiatus the PDC circuit resumes this weekend as the players go to Canada for a Players Championship double header.

On Saturday it’s the London Ontario Players Championship where 158 players will contend for a total of £35,000 in prize money, and on Sunday we have the Canadian Masters Players Championship involving 149 competitors.

Jamie Caven won the Players Championship tournament last year before being beaten by Colin Lloyd in the final of the Canadian Masters the following day. Lloyd is hopeful of defending his crown and is looking forward to the resumption of the tour.

“Back to work tomorrow in Canada. Hope to defend my Canadian Masters title from last year. Been practicing well so looking forward to the event,” said Lloyd on Twitter.

While the majority of PDC players will return to action this weekend, a number of the top ranked players have decided against entering the event. The likes of Phil Taylor, James Wade, Adrian Lewis, Gary Anderson and Raymond van Barneveld will all be missing in action.

That leaves the door open for world number five Simon Whitlock who is made the 5/1 favourite by Sky Bet in the Canadian Players Championship betting. He is closely followed by the in-form Wes Newton at 13/2 and Paul Nicholson at 16/1.

John Part, who has enjoyed a resurgence in the game this season, is 16/1 for the win on home soil with Andy Hamilton and Colin Osborne both available to back at 25/1.
