Accumulate to Accumulate

Maybe the bookmakers have short memories for a change

The Safe Option

Of course very few accumulators are nailed on, but for a reasonably safe punt on Friday evening’s third round there are four men who I strongly fancy to do well.  It almost goes without saying that Phil Taylor is one of these men, and although he’s facing a former champ in Roland Scholten, he won’t have any problems in dismantling the Tripod.

Mervyn King looked thoroughly impressive against Ted Hankey on Thursday night and he is unlikely to struggle against the talented but inexperienced Gareth Cousins.  Gary Anderson should also not have too many struggles against Davey Dodds, especially with it being first to nine.

Finally Barney completes are four man accumulator as I expect him to see off Jelle Klaasen without too much hassle given the form he has shown of late.

Recommended Bet:

Taylor, King, Anderson & Van Barneveld to win @ 1.56 with BlueSQ

Worth A Punt

If you’re looking for some serious profit, here are four men that have a great chance of victory without the stingy odds-on prices.

First up Scott Rand taking on Andy “The Pieman” Smith and somewhat generously Cool Hand Rand has been made the second favourite. Maybe the bookmakers have short memories for a change but Rand beat Smith at the world championships without dropping a single leg.  Smith is obviously still a very good player, but Rand has every chance of picking up the win.

Alan Tabern surprised a few (including me) by smashing Co Stompe 4-0 in round two, again he is slight second favourite as he takes on Jamie Caven who has been struggling of late, so I would back the Saint for another win.

The old warhorse Dennis Priestley makes his return to the big stage and in qualifying for this event he proved he has very much still got it.  Comfortable making the top 32 having only competed in six qualifiers means I fancy him to progress against Kevin Dowling.

Finally, at the other end of the age spectrum we have Michael Smith, the youngster who has made some serious waves in the PDC over the last year and is destined for greatness.  That he is only 4/6 against Darren Webster is a surprise and he is in the accumulator.

Recommended Bet:

Rand, Tabern, Priestley and M Smith to win @ 10.52 with Ladbrokes
