USA the only value on Saturday afternoon
It was a cracking start to the World Cup of darts on Friday and there is plenty more excitement to come as the countries who lost yesterday afternoon are in a must win situation against the seeded teams in their groups.
The first match of the afternoon looks to be set in stone as Hungary take on Northern Ireland with qualification near impossible for the Eastern European pair. They looked pretty abject in their 5-0 loss to Belgium on Friday and getting a result against Mickey Mansell and Brendan Dolan looks out of the question. Northern Ireland are 1/8 to win the match and that sums it up. Stick your mortgage on it if you want because there is no way Hungary will win this one.
Republic of Ireland against South Africa looks a closer one on paper but the Irishmen were pretty impressive in their whitewash win over Denmark on Friday night and if they can keep up that form then they will have no trouble against the Africans. Their best price is 8/11 with Bet Victor and that looks like a decent price on a team clearly in form.
The Italian team impressed on debut against Spain on Friday but they still came up short and they will do so again against the Welsh duo of Mark Webster and Richie Burnett. Daniele Petri looked especially good but him and Matteo Dal Monte are not in the same league as the two former world champions. Again if you want to stick your house on the Welsh at 1/6 then you can feel pretty safe with that bet.
There are no real potential upsets with the seeded teams looking far too strong for the outsiders until the Germany v USA match at the end of the afternoon. There are no other bets available other than just to win so Australia against New Zealand, Scotland facing Sweden, England against Austria and Netherlands versus Gibraltar are all situations where it’s big money or nothing with odds as short as 1/33 on Netherlands.
The final match of the evening is the only one that looks like it could potentially go either way as USA need to upset the odds to beat Germany and progress. The Germans were decent against Finland especially in the finishing department but they certainly didn’t look unbeatable and if the Americans play at their best they have every chance of picking up a result. Darin Young and Larry Butler will love the fight and at 11/10 with Sky Bet they look the best bet of the night.
