Taylor out for revenge against Lewis
With the Premier League field whittled down to eight men, things get very interesting this week in Sheffield and no clash should be more fascinating than the one between Phil Taylor and Adrian Lewis.
These two met in week two with The Power in a bit of a rut and Jackpot playing very well and Lewis duly won the game but eight weeks later the tide has turned somewhat and Taylor is rightfully favourite this time around.
Lewis has won only once since he defeated the world number two whilst Taylor has won three and drawn one of his last four matches. There is no doubt who is playing the better darts and The Power will be keen to avenge the defeat he suffered earlier in the competition. He may be odds-on for this one but still looks good value at 10/11 with Bet365.
The first match of the evening in South Yorkshire sees Raymond van Barneveld take on Dave Chisnall and again the favourite in this one looks good value. Barney is available at EVENS with William Hill and seen as he has only lost once all tournament that looks a good bet. He may be on a long run of draws but he is guaranteed to turn one of those into two points soon.
These two drew when they met earlier in the competition but Barney played badly; if he improves he will win and should be backed.
Then comes, oddly, a repeat of a match from just one week ago as Peter Wright takes on Gary Anderson. Seen as Wright won this fixture just a few days ago it is something of a surprise he is available at 5/4 with Sporting Bet to do so again in Sheffield. Their first match was close but seen as Wright prevailed and has an excellent recent record against Anderson, he should be backed again.
Michael van Gerwen’s clash with Robert Thornton is likely to go the way of the Dutchman but there should be plenty of fireworks along the way. Both men have been prolific on the 180s thus far with MVG landing 32 and the Thorn 34. With this in mind, over 6.5 in their clash looks very possible at looks great value at EVENS with Coral when it is odds-on elsewhere.
The final match of the night is a difficult one to call as it sees Barney and Snakebite returning to the oche having already performed and that can often throw up odd results. The first meeting between the two ended in a draw and that could easily happen again; if one man does win it will not be by much. Over 11.5 legs is available at 5/4 with Sky Bet and that allows for the draw or 7-5 either way which looks very likely.
