Pointless Lewis out to 100/1 for Premier League title

Adrian Lewis’s worrying start to the 2013 Premier League continued with a fourth consecutive defeat, this time to relegation rival Wes Newton.

The two-time world champion averaged just 84.18 in a 7-3 defeat and has yet to average above 92 in any of his quartet of defeats to this point. Jackpot changed his darts earlier this season and also became a father for the second time just before Christmas, but neither can be used as excuses as to his alarming dip in form.

Sky Bet and Boylesports are amongst a clutch of bookmakers that now offer odds of 100/1 on Lewis winning the Premier League this year, while he is odds-on for relegation.

Newton, meanwhile, hauled himself out of the relegation zone and up into mid-table with the two points he gained from his first ever Premier League win.

“That's the most nervous that I've ever been going into a match and it was a massive game for both of us, so I'm very thankful to get the win," said The Warrior after his match.

"That's not the Adrian Lewis that everyone knows and I could see he was struggling, but I was trying so hard. When I got to six legs and Adrian pulled it back to 6-3 I was having flashbacks to when Robert Thornton grabbed a draw last week, so I'm pleased I managed to finish Adrian off there.”

Lewis faces the unbeaten Michael van Gerwen next week and is already being chalked up at odds of 4/1 for the win by bookmaker Coral.
