Odds on Taylor for Championship League cut
Phil Taylor is now a best price of 5/4 to win the Championship League of Darts after the likes of Adrian Lewis, Simon Whitlock and James Wade were all eliminated over the first three groups of the competition.
The Power romped to victory in Group One, finishing top of the table and then winning comfortably against Wes Newton and Lewis to secure victory through the knockout stages. His form in recent months has been nearly unstoppable and that is why the best price available on him to win this tournament is the 5/4 Bwin are offering.
Michael van Gerwen is still second favourite to lift the trophy as he was before a dart was thrown but his failure to win through any of the first three groups mean that his odds are yet to shrink and he is a best price of 10/3 again with Bwin.
With Lewis and Whitlock gone already there is a huge jump in the odds before the third favourite which is Group Two winner Andy Hamilton, available at 12/1 with Betfred. Then comes the man who triumphed in Group Three Wes Newton at 18/1 with Bet Victor.
After an intense three days of action at Crondon Park in Essex the tournament now takes a break until 15 October when Group Four begins. At that stage Michael van Gerwen, Dave Chisnall, Kevin Painter, Mervyn King and Kim Huybrechts will return to action and be joined by the dangerous trio of Terry Jenkins, Gary Anderson and Peter Wright, all of whom are capable of victory in the group.
Before then come two Players Championship events and the World Grand Prix in Dublin, a tournament Phil Taylor is again favourite for at a best price of 9/4 with Sky Bet.
