Lewis can cut The Power
It may be the semi-final, but for most it is the contest between Phil Taylor and Adrian Lewis that will decide the winner of the Grand Slam of Darts with these two men clearly the best players on the planet at the moment.
The pair have been sensational throughout this tournament and have already laid down their markers for World Championship success next month. Lewis has been especially impressive in his last two outings as he sent home both Michael van Gerwen and Kim Huybrechts home with outlandish displays of scoring.
What makes this clash all the more interesting is that Taylor produced his worst performance of the competition against James Wade in the quarter-finals. The Power’s average of a mere 97.89 against Wade was a long way below par for him and if he produces that again then Lewis has every chance of beating him.
Jackpot has not defeated his mentor for over a year and took a pretty heavy defeat last time they met in the final of The Masters but playing as well as he is at the moment, he has a great chance of turning that around. Lewis was our pick at the start of the tournament and we are backing him again here at a best price of 12/5 with Bet365.
The first match of the day in Wolverhampton is a tough one to call between former champ Scott Waites and Robert Thornton who has been incredibly steady throughout the competition without stealing any headlines.
Looking at the numbers Thornton has been playing the better darts, but Waites is renowned for performing at the level he needs to in order to win contests and without being stellar, he has comfortably made it through to the last four. If he needs to step it up against The Thorn than he has every chance of doing so.
They met on this stage last year with Waites triumphing by two legs and something similar should happen this time around. The BDO world champ to win with a -1.5 handicap is available at 11/10 with Paddy Power and that looks a great bet.
