In-form Taylor to power past Anderson
Phil Taylor heads to Manchester for Thursday’s Premier League on a high after winning the German Darts Masters and he should ride that wave of momentum to a victory over Gary Anderson.
The Power looks to have recovered from his early setbacks in the competition and is now undefeated in his last six, winning five of them. He was absolutely superb in Berlin over the Bank Holiday and if he can continue this form then no one will be able to live with him.
Anderson has been playing very well himself but will not be able to keep up with the Power in full flow. Taylor has won his last three matches 7-4 and he looks good value to win with a -2.5 handicap again on Thursday at 11/10 with Bet365.
The first match of the evening sees two more Scots in action as Robert Thornton takes on Peter Wright, both of whom are trying to put an end to three-match losing streaks. Both will be edgy going into this one after their recent dips in form which extended to the German Darts Masters where Thornton and Wright failed to win a game.
Wright is the favourite at EVENS with Sky Bet but this has a close battle written all over it. They drew when they met earlier in the tournament and over 11.5 legs looks a certainty this time around. That length of match is available at 5/4 with Sky Bet and looks a great price.
The last match of the evening sees Anderson and Thornton return for the second Scottish derby of the night. A lot depends on what happens earlier in the evening but at this stage there is no question that the in-form Anderson looks a tempting best price of 10/11 with William Hill to win.
League leader Michael van Gerwen is set for yet another win as he takes on Dave Chisnall in Manchester. MVG is a short price favourite at 2/5 with Paddy Power but given his consistently brilliant performances this cannot be argued with.
Chisnall has been playing well of late but he is too unreliable to expect to pull off an upset. What can be relied upon, though, is that these two will serve up an unholy amount of 180s over the game. They have managed nearly 100 between them so far this tournament and over 7.5 in this contest looks good at 11/10 with Coral.
Finally, there is an intriguing battle between Raymond van Barneveld and Adrian Lewis who are at opposite ends of the form scale at the moment. Barney has not been beaten since week two of the Premier League whilst Jackpot has not won in six weeks. As such it is a surprise the Dutchman is as long as 6/4 with Boyle Sports to win this one.
Lewis enjoyed a good run in Germany and the pair drew last time they met but the contrast in Premier League form makes Barney too good to turn down.
