Coral relief as Bristow lands £50,000 bet

Bristow revealed that he had placed a five-figure bet on himself making the final six.

Leading bookmaker Coral has confirmed their relief today at having escaped a £50,000 hammering from I’m A Celebrity... contender Eric Bristow, after the Crafty Cockney announced on the show that he had landed the five-figure windfall after he placed a £20,000 bet that he would make it to the final six on the ITV show.

“Eric Bristow put his money where his mouth was by putting £20,000 on at odds of 5-2 that he would make the final six, but we are just relieved that he didn’t place the bet at Coral, although he didn’t quite live up to his Crafty nickname, as we would have offered him odds of 3-1, meaning he’d have won an extra £10,000!” Coral’s David Stevens told Darts Betting News.

Bristow revealed to fellow campmates prior to Helen Flanagan’s elimination that he had placed a five-figure bet on himself making the final six.

“There's a lot of money on today,” said the five-time Lakeside champion. “I told all the boys to whack the bookies that I'll get halfway, so if I go out today, I'll lose the lot. It's worth £20,000 today. £20,000 to win £50,000.”

Bristow is now 8/1 with Coral to win the show, with former Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts the 6/4 favourite.
