13/2 for Taylor double in Barnsley
This weekend sees the third and fourth UK Open qualifiers of the season, and Sportingbet are offering odds of 13/2 on Phil Taylor winning both events.
A fortnight ago Sportingbet offered similar odds on The Power doing the double over a weekend of Players Championship events in Reading. The 15-time World Champion was on course to oblige after beating Wes Newton in Saturday’s final, but three missed darts at a double in the deciding leg of Sunday’s final allowed Dave Chisnall to step in and take the victory.
The Power has since beaten Andy Hamilton and James Wade in the Premier League with three-dart averages in excess of 105, and comes into this weekend as the deserving 7/4 favourite on both Saturday and Sunday.
Gary Anderson is second favourite in the betting at odds of 10/1, despite the Scot struggling for form of late. He was beaten 8-5 by Raymond van Barneveld on Thursday night in Dublin, yet the Dutchman can be backed at twice the odds for victory in Reading.
Adrian Lewis took a step in the right direction by beating Kevin Painter on Thursday, and he can be backed at odds of 16/1, while Simon Whitlock is available at the same odds having battled to a draw against Andy Hamilton in Ireland.
Dave Chisnall is a 20/1 shot to pick up another floor title, while floor specialist Justin Pipe is 16/1 for his second title of the season. Kim Huybrechts reached a semi-final and quarter-final in Reading – thwarted by Taylor on each occasion – and looks a good each-way bet at odds of 33/1.
